Quiz Night 06/02/2015
We had a full house at the Church Hall in Maryculter where just over fifty pitted themselves against Inga's eight round quiz. Thanks to all that attended and for their generous raffle ticket purchases including the lucky person who won a week's worth of outdoor PE, known as Boot Camp, courtesy of Rebel PT.
Many thanks to Ardoe House Hotel for the splendid donation of Afternoon Tea for two and to Dawn Ewan for donating 2 day's worth of Forest Holiday Club for children.
Winter Wonderland Walk 07/12/2014
We were blessed with a perfect winter day for our community woodland walk. The low sun and gorgeous sunset filtering through the bare trees made the wood especially beautiful.
Nigel and Ed took two tours around the wood and explained many of the interesting geological, archaeological and botanical features of the wood.
Just over forty people attended and after the walk we all kept warm around the bonfire and enjoyed a cup of mulled wine, a mince pie and toasted marshmallows. We had a wonderful time hosting the event and we hope everyone enjoyed it as much as we did.
We would like to thank all who attended for the overwhelmingly generous donations which totalled £317.52!
Our thanks are also offered to Kelly of Cults for the kind donation of some very nice mulled wine and mince pies.
The inaugural mini Oktoberfest for Maryculter hosted and run by the MWT on the Glebe field in the Kirkton of Maryculter.
The day started unpromisingly with wind and rain but the evening was perfectly calm and cool - perfect for wurst und bier. Just over sixty people came to enjoy a wide range of authentic German beer and the evening was a great success.
A great debt of gratitude is owed to Esslemont Marquees! Dan Whiteford and his team generously provided and erected a splendid marquee without which the event could not have taken place.
The sausages much enjoyed by all were supplied by Andrew Gordon Butchery & Fine Foods - not a morsel was left.

17/05/2014 - Plant Sale - Fund Raiser
Each May the South Deeside View and NKRCC hosts a grand plant sale at the Corby Community Hall next to the Old Mill Inn. This year the NKRCC kindly offered the proceeds of the Tea and Bakes to the MWT. As usual the quality of cakes and treats made in the community and contributed to the event was excellent. Members of the MWT did their bit by serving and doing the clear up.
The MWT are grateful for all the hard work and organising that made the event such a success.

6/05/2013 - Community Ballot
Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS) has announced the sale of their wood (Kirkton of Maryculter Wood) next to the Kirkton of Maryculter. A community body, the Maryculter Woodlands Trust (MWT), has notified FCS of their interest in acquiring the wood for the benefit of the local community. The MWT has already been managing the wood since 2007, in partnership with FCS, and has greatly increased the amenity of the wood for local groups. The proposed community acquisition by the MWT has the full support of our Rural Community Council (North Kincardine).
Community bodies that wish to buy FCS land can apply to do so under the National Forest Land Scheme (http://www.forestry.gov.uk/nfls) but have to demonstrate community support for their acquisition. Such support is generally done via a postal ballot of the 'local area'. In our case the 'local area' is covered by Polling District SW1701 (Maryculter), North Kincardine. You have received this ballot paper as you are registered on the electoral role for Polling District SW1701 (Maryculter).
You are kindly requested to answer the ballot question you received by post and mail back the slip to the independent Returning Officer using the stamped addressed envelope.
Returning the completed ballot slip carries no obligation to help fund the purchase. Funding is instead likely to be through public bodies and charitable private donation (over 20 other communities in Scotland have acquired land in this way).
A high response rate for the ballot will improve the community's chance of a successful application with FCS. If the ballot is unsuccessful or if the turnout is deemed too low (less than 50%) then the community will lose the right to acquire the wood and FCS will place the wood on the open market.
The ballot is open now should you wish to post your ballot slip straight away. To preserve the fairness of the ballot each ballot slip has a unique code. Each code is randomly assigned and untraceable to a specific voter, household or area within Polling District SW1701. The deadline for posting a completed ballot slip is Friday 31st May, 2013.
